The Trasna ceilidh band from Co. Antrim was formed in 2003 and aims to provide the best in traditional Irish and Scottish music for dancing. The name "Trasna" means "across" in Gaelic and symbolises the band's desire to reach across all cultural boundaries with our Irish/Scottish traditional music and dance entertainment. The band works with dance teacher Máire, who acts as caller for those occasions where people need a little help with the traditional dances of Scotland and Ireland. We can offer the correct music and tempo for the full repertoire of Irish and Scottish ceilidh dances, together with a selection of old-tyme dances in order to encourage everyone to "Take the Floor".
